The Toxic Avenger at the Arts Theatre ★★★★★

One of the more recent productions on the list, Mark Swale seemed to be very impressed by this production. The show, which started at the Southwark Playhouse, went on to play to sold out audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe before transferring to London's West End. 

"This is a fun show and one that is needed in London at the moment. Its an alternative to The Book of Mormon and a quarter of the price. This is on our must see list so make sure you head down down to the Arts Theatre and see this whilst its around!"

Salad Days at the Union Theatre ★★★★★

The only fringe musical on the list, Salad Days played at the Union Theatre in 2017 and its success was incredible. James-Lee Campbell, one of our favourite reviewers, loved this show and we can totally see why! 

"For a couple of hours it will transport the audience away from all the doom and gloom we face day to day... Go and see Salad Days for a touch of ol’ fashioned musical theatre glamour and joy."

Hair at the Vaults 

Hair is celebrating its 50th Year with this London production, transferring from the Hope Mill Theatre it runs at the Vaults until the 13th January. 

Mad on Her at Above The Arts Theatre 

This Cheesy 80's musical is fresh and the most fun you'll have. Another musical to have played the Hope Mill Theatre, it plays at the Above The Arts Theatre and you still have time to catch it. It plays on the 19th (4pm and 7.30pm) & 26th (6pm and 8.30pm) November and 3rd December (4pm and 7.30pm).

REVIEW: The Toxic Avenger at the Arts Theatre

Premiering in London at the Southwark Playhouse last year, Toxic Avenger returns to London after a hugely successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe. Now playing at the Arts Theatre through to December 3rd. 

Based on the 1984 cult classic, The Toxic Avenger follows the story of a small town hero who gets dunked in toxic waste after trying to clean up the problem. Add in a corrupt Mayor, a New Jersey mother and a blind love interest and you get this. 

The story is completely bizarre and silly but its perfect escapism. With whats going on in the world at the moment, shows like The Book of Mormon are what we need and this follows in their footsteps.
