Lets hear it for the Reality Stars!

Within the theatre industry we could all name at least five major shows who have stunt casting in them; wether thats an Ex-Girls aloud member or a TOWIE star trying to make a name for themselves.  Reality TV stars have a bad reputation for coming into musical and 'stealing' other peoples jobs, so we decided to take a look at the reality TV stars who are NAILING it in the world of Theatre.  Take a look and let us know what you think... Alexandra Burke 

Alexandra won the 2008 series of The X Factor, she later appeared in the West End and international touring productions of The Bodyguard. She is currently playing Deloris Van Cartier in the UK tour of Sister Act. 

Darius Campbell 

Darius appeared on Pop Idol in 2002, since then he has gone on to appear in many West End musicals including Chicago, Guys and Dolls, From Here to Eternity and most recently Funny Girl alongside Sheridan Smith. 


Marcus Collins 

After appeearing in the X Factor in 2011 he went on to be cast in Hairspray and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. Most recently he was in the ensemble and understudied the lead role of Lola in Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre. 

Gareth Gates
 

Coming second to Will Young in the 2002 series of Pop Idol, Gareth went on to appear in musical such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Les Miserables, Loserville, Legally Blonde and most recently Footloose. 

Ray Quinn

Ray finished in the 2006 series of The X Factor second place, behind Leona Lewis. He has since starred in Grease, Legally Blonde, Dirty Dancing and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice. He will star in the new UK tour of the Wedding Singer. 

Rhydian Roberts
 

After featuring in the 2007 series of The X Factor, Rhydian has most recently been seen in the touring produciton of Little Shop of Horrors. His other credits include The Rocky Horror Show, We Will Rock You, Jesus Christ Superstar and Grease. 

Will Young 

Will won the 2002 series of Pop Idol, he starred in the 2013 production of Cabaret at the Savoy Theatre and recieved an Olivier Award nomination for his role. 

Lola Saunders 

2014 X Factor contestant Lola Saunders was most recently seen in Save The Last Dance for Me on tour around the UK. 

Leona Lewis 

After winning the 2006 series of The X Factor Leona went on to have huge success here in the UK and in America, she most recently starred as Grizabella in the Broadway revival of Cats the Musical. 

Zoe Birkett 

After being the last woman standing in the 2002 series of Pop Idol, Zoe went on to be featured in the West End casts of Thriller Live, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Respect La Diva. Most recently she was the alternate to Alexandra Burke in the touring production of The Bodyguard. 

Lucie Jones
 

Lucie has made a name for herself in the Musical Theatre world, after appearing in The X Factor in 2009 she has gone on to appear in Les Miserables, Legally Blonde, Ghost, We Will Rock You and American Psycho. She is currently playing Maureen Johnson in RENT on tour around the UK and in London this Christmas. 

Joe McElderry 

After winning the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009 Joe has gone on to star in Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat and playing the title role in Tommy at the Prince Edward Theatre and in Blackpool. 

Brenda Edwards
 

Brenda appeared in the second series of The X Factor, coming fourth. Since then she has had numerous roles in musical in the West End and around the UK. She has played Mama Morton in Chicago, Killer Queen in We Will Rock You and Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray. 

Karen Mav
 

Appeared on the X Factor in 2015 and is currently making her West End debut alternating the role of Effie White in Dreamgirls at the Savoy Theatre. 

Cassie Compton 

After appearing in Series 1 of The X Factor, Cassie has gone on to appear in huge musical across the West End. These include Wicked, Les Miserables, Dirty Dancing, American Psycho and The Secret Garden. She was most recently seen in 27 at the Cockpit and will star in the new UK tour of the Wedding Singer. 

Lloyd Daniels 

After being the youngest act in the 2009 series of X Factor, Lloyd has since played the lead in the Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat tour and appeared in You won't succeed on Broadway without any Jews. 

Lucy O'Byrne 

Lucy appeared on both the UK and Ireland versions of The Voice, she most recently starred in the UK tour of The Sound of Music as Maria and will make her West End debut in Les Miserables playing Fantine. 

Diana Vickers

Diana appeared on The X Factor in 2008 and has since gone on to star in both plays and musical across London and the UK; she has starred in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, The Duck House and The Rocky Horror Show. 

Andy Abraham

Andy appeared on the X Factor 11 years ago and has been in Boogie Nights, Respect La Diva and Godspell. 

Amelia Lily

Amelia appeared on The X Factor in 2011 and has since followed her brothers footsteps into the world of Musical Theatre. Her brother, Lewis Bradley, has been in shows such as Annie, Wicked and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat which Amelia later appeared in as the Narrator. She was most recently was seen in the Green Day musical American Idiot and playing Yellow Girl in SHOUT! 

Ruth Brown 

Ruth was a contestant on The Voice in 2012 and is also alternating the role of Effie White in the new West End produciton of Dreamgirls. 

Sam Bailey 
Sam won the X Factor in 2013 and most recently appeared in the UK tour of Chicago as Mama Morton opposite Sophie Carmen-Jones, John Partridge and Hayley Tamaddon. 

Niki Evans

Niki has gone on to appear in some top musicals since appearing in the X Factor in 2007. She has played Ms Johnstone in Blood Brothers, Paulette in Legally Blonde, Rona in the 25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee and Orange girl in SHOUT!
