THE COLOR PURPLE will close on Broadway on January 18, 2017


The Color Purple, named Best Revival in the 2016 Tony Awards, has posted a closing notice for January 18, 2017.

Directed by John Doyle and starring Cynthia Erivo, who won the Tony as Best Actress in a Musical, the revival opened December 10, 2015 and will have played 33 previews and 449 regular performances when it closes.
A North American tour of the production will launch in the fall of 2017.

Further casting announced for SHE LOVES ME at the Menier Chocolate Factory


The Menier Chocolate Factory today announces that Scarlett Strallen(Amalia Balash) will be joined by Alastair Brookshaw (Ladislav Sipos), Les Dennis (Mr Maraczek), Callum Howells (Arpad Laszlo), Katherine Kingsley(Ilona Ritter), Dominic Tighe (Steven Kodaly) and Mark Umbers (Georg Nowack), with Rachel BinghamPeter DukesLuke FetherstonOlivia Fines,Aimee HodnettSarah-Marie Maxwell and Vincent Pirillo for the company’s major revival of She Loves Me this Christmas. The production reunites Strallen with director Matthew White, following their previous collaboration at the Menier on Candide. The production opens on 7 December, with previews from 25 November, and runs until 5 March 2017. Full casting will be announced shortly.

Meet Amalia and Georg, who work as clerks in Maraczek’s Parfumerie - and aren’t exactly the best of friends.  However, they have something in common.  They both rapturously write to romantic pen pals.  Despite the anonymity of their secret admirers, they live for the love letters that they exchange and the day they will finally meet.   This enduring love story has been the basis for the films The Shop around the Corner and You’ve GotMail.  The musical version – written by the authors of Fiddler on the Roof – has delighted audiences since its 1963 Broadway premier and features a sparkling score that includes now-classic songs Ice Cream and A Trip to the Library.

Kara Tointon to lead a major new production of Patrick Hamilton's GASLIGHT with Rupert Young and Keith Allen


One of the greatest thrillers of all time Gaslight returns to UK theatres starring the celebrated stage and television actress Kara Tointon. Kara plays Bella Manningham, memorably portrayed by Oscar winner Ingrid Bergman in the classic 1944 film adaptation. Rupert Young of BBC 1’s Merlin joins Kara as husband Jack Manningham and the multi-talented Keith Allen is cast in the role of Detective Rough. The UK tour opens at Birmingham’s New Alexandra Theatre on January 6 2017 and heads to the New Victoria Theatre, Woking from Mon 23 – Sat 28 January.

While Jack Manningham (Rupert Young) is on the town each evening his wife Bella (Kara Tointon) is home alone.  She can’t explain the disappearance of familiar objects, the mysterious footsteps overhead or the ghostly flickering of living room gaslight - is she losing her mind?  Does the terror exist in her imagination or are dark secrets living in her home? The surprise arrival of retired Detective Rough (Keith Allen) leads to a shocking discovery that will shake her respectable Victorian marriage to its core.

Cast announced for All Star Productions WONDERFUL TOWN at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre


All Star Productions are delighted to present a new chamber production of Leonard Bernstein's 1953 musical WONDERFUL TOWN.  

Based on the play, MY SISTER EILEEN by Joseph Fields and Jerome Chodorov, the Tony award winning WONDERFUL TOWN is a bright and cheery love letter to the colorful experience of living life in New York in the 1930's.

Olivier award-winning KINKY BOOTS extends booking to Saturday 6 May 2017


Kinky Boots, now in its second year and the winner of every major Best Musical award, today announces the opening of a new booking period, with tickets now available until Saturday 6 May 2017. Tickets for this extended period will go on sale from Friday 9 September 2016, the day after the production celebrates its first birthday in the West End. 

Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre has become a favourite with UK theatregoers having won three Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Costume Design and Best Actor in a Musical for Matt Henry who plays Lola. Kinky Boots also won the London Evening Standard BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical as well as three WhatsOnStage Awards for Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical for Matt Henry, and Best Choreography

New Adventures announce full casting for the world premiere of Matthew Bourne's production of The Red Shoes


New Adventures are delighted to announce full casting for the World Premiere of Matthew Bourne’s production of THE RED SHOES, opening at the Theatre Royal Plymouth on Monday 21 November with an eight week Christmas season at Sadler’s Wells from Tuesday 6 December 2016 to Sunday 29 January 2017. As previously announced, “Victoria Page”, the girl who dreams of being a great dancer, immortalised on screen by Moira Shearer, will be created by New Adventures star, Ashley Shaw, most recently seen across the UK and internationally as “Aurora” in Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty. Rising star and fellow “Aurora”, Cordelia Braithwaite, will also play the role, along with Sleeping Beauty favourite Katrina Lyndon in her principal role debut (at certain performances).

Samantha Barks and Jonathan Bailey star in THE LAST FIVE YEARS at St. James Theatre, directed by Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown


Tony Award-winning Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown will helm a new London production of his acclaimed musical The Last Five Years, playing at St. James Theatre from Friday 27 October, with a press night on Wednesday 2 November at 7.00pm. 

Tickets are on sale to St. James Friends at 10.00am on Friday 24 June, and on general sale at 10.00am on Saturday 25 June.

The Last Five Years is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical telling the story of Jamie and Cathy, two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. As aspiring author Jamie gets the book deal of his dreams, actress Cathy struggles to get work and make sense of the way her career has turned out. Can a couple once united by their dreams stay connected as their paths begin to divide? Known for its unique structure, The Last Five Years sees their stories told in opposite directions; Jamie moving forwards and Cathy backwards through their relationship, meeting only briefly for a moment in time as their stories cross.

Casting for 20th Anniversary production of RENT announced


Robert Mackintosh and Idili Theatricals Limited, in association with Theatr Clwyd and Wales Millennium Centre, are presenting the 20thAnniversary production of Jonathan Larson’s ground-breaking Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical RENT.  After opening at Theatr Clwyd for a limited season from 21 October to 12 November 2016, RENT will go on a three-week tour, prior to a Christmas Season at St. James Theatre, London from 8 December 2016 to 28 January 2017, with a national press night on Tuesday 13 December 2016.  2017 tour dates are to be announced.  The new production will be directed by Bruce Guthrie.

Full cast announced for GROUNDHOG DAY at The Old Vic


Full casting is today announced for the world premiere of the new musical Groundhog Day, which previews from Monday 11 July 2016 with a press night on Tuesday 16 August 2016. 

Carlyss Peer will play Rita Hanson alongside the previously announced Andy Karl in the role of Phil Connors. They are joined by an ensemble cast including Leo Andrew, David Birch, Set Clough, Roger Dipper, Georgina Hagen, Kieran Jae, Julie Jupp, Andrew Langtree, Vicki Lee Taylor, Emma Lindars, Antonio Magro, Carolyn Maitland, Kirsty Malpass, Lisa Mathieson, Eugene McCoy, Jenny O’Leary, Leanne Pinder, Mark Pollard, Damien Poole, Jack Shalloo, Andrew Spillett and Spencer Stafford.

Carrie Hope Fletcher and Shaun Williamson to join the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang UK and Ireland Tour



Further casting has been announced for the Music & Lyrics Limited and West Yorkshire Playhouse production of the much-loved Sherman Brothers musical CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG. The 2016-17 UK and Ireland tour opened at Mayflower Theatre, Southampton on 10 February 2016.


From 4 May until 2 October, Carrie Hope Fletcher (Les Misérables, War of the Worlds) will play Truly Scrumptious. From 4 May until 21 August, Shaun Williamson (The Railway Children, EastEnders) will play Lord Scrumptious/Baron Bomburst.  Phill Jupitus (The Producers, Hairspray), who currently plays the roles of Lord Scrumptious and Baron Bomburst, returns to the show from 24 August.

Emily Atack to Share Role of Holly Golightly in UK tour of BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S

Emily Atack will now play the role of Holly Golightly in the UK Tour of Breakfast at Tiffany’s from 2 May to 11 June 2016, appearing at His Majesty’s Aberdeen, Nottingham Theatre Royal, Theatre Royal Bath, Glasgow Theatre Royal, King’s Theatre Edinburgh and Wycombe Swan. She will be replacing Verity Rushworth, who has had to withdraw because she is expecting her first child. Emily will be sharing the role with Pixie Lott, whose dates, including the West End season, have been announced previously.

Emily can currently be seen in the highly anticipated remake of Dad’s Army, which topped the UK box office earlier this year. Emily stars as Daphne alongside an all-star cast that includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bill Nighy, Toby Jones & Michael Gambon. She is best known for her role as Charlotte Hinchcliffe in the award-winning E4 series The Inbetweeners. Emily has most recently shot Iron Sky 2 alongside comedian Tom Green, and Lies We Tell opposite Harvey Keitel, Gabriel Byrne and Gina McKee.

Emily said of her new role, "I am so flattered and honoured to be playing Holly Golightly; to take such an iconic role as my stage debut is both incredibly exciting and challenging. I can't wait to get started and plan to have as much fun with it as possible. I'm very much looking forward to getting in front of an audience and going on this journey with them every night.”

REGENT’S PARK OPEN AIR THEATRE ANNOUNCE CASTING FOR THE 2016 SUMMER SEASON


Olivier Award-winning actress Michelle Terry plays the title role in Henry V. With a wealth of Shakespearean roles to her credit, Terry takes on the role of King Henry in this new production as part of Shakespeare400. Terry is most noted for her numerous roles at The Globe, RSC and the National Theatre (currently appearing in Cleansed), as well as Privacy(Donmar Warehouse) and Before the Party (Almeida). In 2011 she was awarded ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ at the Olivier Awards for her portrayal of Sylvia in the Royal Court Theatre production of Tribes

Trevor Dion Nicholas will make his West End debut as the Genie in ALADDIN


Disney announced today that the Tony® Award-winning new musical Aladdin will hold its West End premiere on Thursday 9 June 2016 at the Prince Edward Theatre, with previews from Friday 27 May.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday 23 November 2015. Tickets for the initial booking period are available for performances up to and including 1 October 2016.

Cast announced for London Premiere of See What I Wanna See


Casting is announced today for Michael John LaChiusa’s Off-Broadway hit See What I Wanna See, which will receive its London Premiere in a limited 4-week run at Jermyn Street Theatre from Tuesday 8 September to Saturday 3 October, with a press night on Friday 11 September, 7.30pm.

The cast features Jonathan Butterell as The Janitor/The Priest, Marc Elliott as The Thief/A Reporter, Cassie Compton as Kesa/The Wife/An Actress, Mark Goldthorp as Morito/The Husband/A CPA and Sarah Ingram as The Medium/Aunt Monica.
