Where are they now? Grease is the Word


In direct competition with Any Dream Will Do (The search for Joseph), David Ian brought his own version of the reality shows to ITV. This time looking for people to play the roles of Danny and Sandy in the musical Grease, the TV show has previously aired in America to find the stars for the Broadwa version of the show, the winners being Laura Osnes and Max Crumm. Reality shows that followed were I'd Do Anything (The Search for Nancy), Over the Rainbow (The search for Dorothy), Superstar (The search for Jesus) and Fame: The musical (the search for Nick and Serena).

Danny Bayne 

After winning the TV show, Danny went on to play the part of Danny at the Piccadilly Theatre and also went on to play the role on the UK touring production of the show. His other credits include Corney Collins in Hairspray (UK tour); Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever (Royal Caribbean Cruises, UK tour & USA tour); the Beast in Beuaty and the Beast (Theatre Royal, Nottingham) and Flash Harry in Beauty and the Beast (Grand Opera House, Belfast) . @danny_bayne

Anthony Kavanagh

Otherwise known as Kavana, after appearing in this show he went on to appear in. the UK tour of G*Mania, a tour based on Glee. He was seen on the 2013 season of the Voice where he failed to progress past the audition stage and in 2015 came 7th in Celebrity Big Brother. @kavana_official

Michael Quinn

After coming third in the show Michael has gone on to star as the Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Adelphi Theatre), Link Larkin in Hairspray (Royal Caribbean Cruises), Tom Collins in RENT (Tabard Theatre), Buddy Holly and Elvis in Rock Around the Clock (China Tour) and Greaseball in Starlight Express (Bochum, Germany); The Prince in Snow White (Theatre Royal Bath) and Will Scarett in Robin Hood (Milton Keynes Theatre). @mquinnsinger1

Danny Rhodes 

Danny went on to perform on Cruise Ships and after an extensive career preforming in both the UK and abroad, Danny started to write and mold his own unique and fun stage shows complete with custom written Orchestra charts and AV screen footage. @Dannyrhodes8

Bradley Clarkson

Bradley has since appeared as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls (Gordon Craig Theatre); Norman in Dreamboats and Petticoats (Playhouse Theatre); Arthur in Come Dancing (Theatre Royal Stratford East); Philip A.S. Franklin in 41N 50W (St. James Theatre & New York); Norman Bartholomew in Murderer (Upstairs at the Gatehouse); Jack Worthing in The Importance of Being Ernest (Theatre Royal Windsor); Jimmie Shields in The Tailor Made Made (The Arts Theatre); General Heinrich von Aeschelman in Savage (The Arts Theatre); Edmond in Flames (Waterloo East Theatre); Tom Buchanan / Meyer Wolfsheim in Gatsby (Leicester Square Theatre) and most recently Ben Perkins in Benidorm Live (UK Tour). @BradleyClarkson

Wayne Smith 

After the TV show, Wayne appeared as the Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK tour), Ray in Dreamboats and Petticoats (UK Tour); Neil Sedaka Laughter in the Rain (UK Tour); Billy Kostecki in Dirty Dacning (UK tour & Piccadilly Theatre) Johnny Franz in Dusty (Charing Cross Theatre); Jerry in Summer Holiday (UK Tour) and Bob Crewe in Jersey Boys (Prince Edward Theatre). Most recently he was seen playing Flash Harry in Beauty and the Beast at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle. @WayneSmith_

Richard Morgan

After performing on the show Richard joined a band as the lead singer for three years and after went on to perform as a soloist. He later played the role of Danny in Grease with LS Theatre Productions, his other credits with the company include Little Shop of Horrors. 

Tom Bradley

After the TV show, Tom went on to perform in the ensemble of Godspell on tour before taking over the lead role due to Stephen Gately leaving the company. He later starred as the title character in Dick Whittington (Watford Palace) and Adrian Banks in Never Forget (UK tour). 

Susan McFadden

After winning the show and playing the part of Sandy in Grease, Susan went on to lead the tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, originating the role of Serena in the London production of Legally Blonde at the Savoy Theatre and later going on to play the lead role of Elle Woods. She all Irish Female musical ensemble, Celtic Woman in 2012 and left in 2018 to have her first child, she has since rejoined and will join them in their next US tour. @susiemcfads

Michelle Antrobus

After failing to win the prize, Michelle went on to Mona and understudy Roxie in the London production of Chicago, a show she has a long history with. She was also part of the UK Tour, the 2018 production at the Phoenix Theatre where she was in the ensemble and covered the role of Velma and also went on to play Velma in China. Her other credits since the show include u/s Catwoman and Harley Quinn in Batman Live (Arena World tour), Ensemble in Jesus Christ Superstar (Arena Tour) and Ellie u/s Mary in Tonights the Night (UK tour). @antrobus111

Vicky Hoyles

Since leaving the show Vicky went on to appear in the Abba tour, Dancing Queen; Singer at the Thursford Christmas Spectacular; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Maidstone); Celtic Women And Dublin’s Irish Tenors (Newzealand Tour); Blockbuster the Musical (UK Tour); Aladdin (Bridlington & Derby) and a lead singer on P&O Cruises. She was also part of Super Group Goldstone. @VickyHoyles

Alison Crawford

Since the show Alison has gone on to play Princess Jill in Jack and the Beanstalk (Theatre Royal St. Helens), Brenda in Blood Brothers (UK tour) and the title role in Cinderella (Epstein Theatre). Alison has recently finished touring with the Blood Brothers UK tour as cover Linda and Donna Marie.

Lauren McConnell 

Lauren did not enter the performing arts industry and currently works for BNP Paribas. 

Hayley Clarke

Hayley Clarke, now Hayley Hampson, most recently appeared in The Scouse Nativity (Royal Court Liverpool), Adam & Eve... and Steve (Kings Head Theatre), Blue Girl in Shout! The Mod Musical, Faryl in Golden Oldies, Daisy in Pharaoh Cross the Mersey (Royal Court Liverpool) and Sophie in Departure Lounge. @hayley_hampson

Joanna Power

Joanna is now a freelance singer and is currently performing all over the South East of England. Joanna is one-third of 60s act 'The Lovettes' and also performs with rock sensation 'The shakers'.

Kate Somerset How 

Despite losing out on the role of Sandy, she went on to pay the role of Rizzo in the UK touring production of Grease. Her other credits include Lily St Regis and understudy Miss Hannigan in Annie (Ed Mirvish Theatre, Toronto and the Piccadilly Theatre); Ensemble, cover Lily & Miss Hannigan in Annie (UK & International Tour); Broadway Christmas Wonderland (East Coast USA Tour); Puttin' on the Ritz (UK Tour); Hooray for Hollywood (China Tour) Celtic Angels (German Tour); Lead Vocalist on Seabourn Sojourn. Kate is also the female half of country/jazz/blues duo The Belle Adventure, which performs shows all over the world. @KateSomersetHow
