BREEDERS announces the panel for the Breeders Debate, taking place at 6pm on 15 September


With Ben Ockrent’s Breeders, the first show in the One Stage season for emerging producers, set to open at St James Theatre, today Vicky Graham Productions announces the panel for the Breeders Debate, taking place at 6pm on 15 September, around the provocation ‘children should be raised by a mother and father’

Discussing what constitutes a twenty-first century family, will be television presenter Dr Christian Jessen, Campaign Director of Fathers 4 Justice Nadine O’Connor, Director of Square Peg Media and The Alternative Parenting Show Sarah Garrett, Head of External Affairs at Relate Chris Sherwood and Angela Griffin, playing the part of Caroline in Breeders 

Breeders is a new comedy about two women, Andrea and Caroline, who want to start a family together.  In their quest to have a child that shares both of their DNA, Andrea seeks her brother Jimmy’s help.  Directed byTamara Harvey and featuring Tamzin Outhwaite, Angela GriffinJemima Rooper and Nicholas Burns, the play is inspired by Ockrent’s real-life experience and offers a new perspective on how and why we make babies.  The production, currently in previews, opens on 8 September and runs until 4 October.

Dr Christian Jessen is best known for presenting Channel 4’s Embarrassing BodiesEmbarrassing Illnessesand Supersize vs Superskinny and the documentary Undercover Doctor: Cure Me I’m Gay.

Nadine O’Connor is Campaign Director of Fathers 4 Justice and married to founder Matt O’Connor.  She has been particularly prominent in negotiations with the Conservative Party and the Liberal Democrats regarding family law reform. 

Sarah Garrett is director of Square Peg Media, one of the industry leaders in diversity and inclusion, and The Alternative Parenting Show, an event offering valuable information to same-sex and heterosexual couples and single men and women on how to start a family.  She is also the founder of g3 magazine, a publication for lesbian and bisexual women. 

Chris Sherwood is Head of External Affairs at Relate, the UK’s largest provider of relationship support.  He is also the founder of guerillapolicy, a hub site for frontline bloggers on social policy. 

Angela Griffin plays Caroline in Breeders and is mother to two daughters.  She was recently seen on stage inOne Man, Two Guvnors and her screen credits include Cutting It and Coronation Street
