Bakersfield Mist, starring Kathleen Turner and Ian McDiarmid, will close on August 9th

The current West End production of Bakersfield Mist, starring Kathleen Turner and Ian McDiarmid, will end its run at the Duchess Theatre earlier than planned on 9 August.
Stephen Sachs’ play about an unemployed bartender who believes that the painting she bought for a few bucks is in fact a Jackson Pollock was originally booking until 30 August.
The production opened at the Duchess Theatre in May 2014 when it was described by Official London Theatre’s Charlotte Marshall as “a treat that speeds by, propelled by playwright Stephen Sachs’ quick fire wit and Polly Teale’s energetic direction.”
Turner, best known for her screen roles in films including Romancing The Stone, Crimes Of Passion and Body Heat, plays out of work bartender Maude alongside Olivier Award winner McDiarmid as a world-class art expert who flies over from New York to authenticate the painting at her trailer park home.
Following the production’s premature closure, The Play That Goes Wrong will bring its chaotic tale to the venue from 5 September to 1 February.
